“Orchis” came about in my head some time ago and I’ve been wanting to turn it into a reality for a while. It’s my interpretation of an Orchid flower in a slightly different direction.

The three leaves contain bright colorful inlays that are toner transfers designed to diffuse light. The copper stem is brightly spot oxidized to produce bright colors which range from straw to blue using a reducing flame. The wooden base is a segmented turned vase with painted sections of black. There’s also a piece which holds the main LED ring which is solid turned walnut.
